Then when G-d asks [Cain], ‘Where is your brother Abel?’ he arrogantly responds, ‘I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?’
In essence, the entire Bible is written as an affirmative response to this question.

Chronic illness and ministry.

I’m missing a lot tonight.
I miss being healthy enough to do service ministry. One of the most meaningful days was a Make a Difference Day project where I helped put in water bars on the hiking trail at Andrews Bald.  I’ve had four hospital stays since August and meaningful manual labor is just out of the question.
And I miss talking theology with people my age, so much. Not just the lectionary but analysis and unpacking of scripture and theology, running into dissent and talking it out.
I miss ministry and community. My health issues have taken more from me than I realize when I’m actively thinking about it. It’s the day-to-day that tells me how much I’ve lost.

If I follow you, yes, I care about your garden, what your cat did today, the jewelry you made, that one friend who said the thing, i like your sense of humor, and also your selfies.

Also, heart.

And just look at their amazing #garden!! Truly jealous, these people have the life I want. The only word I have for my feelings for being able to be here today is blessed. #gardens #allnatural #greenthumb #organic #veggies #vegetables #paradise #Jacksonville #jacksonvilleoregon #Oregon (at Downtown Jacksonville)
